Cherbourg report 2009

“Meeting at 1830 as instructed we were counted in and ushered aboard a large tour bus to take us to the restaurant in Dielette that John had carefully selected – “Le Bouche a Oreille” meaning “By Word of Mouth”.  First, though, we went on a brief tour to look at the massive construction of the new nuclear power station at Flamanville and to look, too, at the view of the Alderney Race, Alderney and the other Channel Islands and Cap de la Hague. The evening followed with a four course dinner, before retuning to Cherbourg and our boats.”

“The following day was we travelled through the hills to the East of Cherbourg to La Pernelle then down to the valley of the river Saire to the small village of Le Vast to L’Enchanterie and the wine cave of Philippe Dubegny for a Champagne reception.  This was generously provided by MDL Marinas, whose MD, Jon Eads and manager of the West Country region, Mike Smith were there. There followed a French-style lunch, beginning with unlimited local oysters and charcuterie.”

Huge thanks to John Kibble for organising yet another outstanding event. This was an invited event with MDL Marinas and the member yachts of Sadler and Starlight Owners Association attending were: Zig Zag; Le Canard; MiSue; and Valinor.”
