Report on the Southern Section.  2011 Folly Rally.
June 3rd, 4th and 5th.

On the evening of Friday 3rd June eight boats met up with the Rick and Jaqueline Locker on their boat, Skimbleshanks, at the Gosport Marina.  After a pre-supper pontoon party Jaqueline served a Chilli meal to everyone and a great time was had by all.
On the Saturday seven of the crews sailed across to the river Medina and up to the Folly Inn where Rick had booked berths on the shore-side alongside pontoon so that all the crews could walk ashore in the evening.  That evening the landlord had set aside an area so that the crews could all sit together and Graham Snook from ‘Pixie’ (32), who is a professional photographer for Yachting Monthly, entertained the group with a talk about his experiences.
Everyone made their way back home on the Sunday, and agreed that it was a very good meet , so Rick has already agreed to repeat the event next year.
The boats taking part were: Akaroa (29), Bahari (29), Skimbleshanks (35), Vivace (34), Waveney Rose (29), Istron (29), Pixie (32), and Magic Touch (35),

About The South Coast Section
The South Coast typically covers those who keep their yachts anywhere between Brighton and Poole; the majority around the Solent.  In a typical year a Fitting-out lunch is held in March, a summer rally  in the Solent and a combined Laying-up lunch and AGM in late autumn.  In June there is usually a Cherbourg rally jointly organised with MDL marinas, courtesy of John Kibble (see notice for 2011 event ) .

The South Coast section has traditionally been organised by the national committee but we are keen to hear from members who might be willing to organise events or consider taking on the chair.  Please email mailto:chairman@sadlerandstarlight.co.uk?subject=chairman@sadlerandstarlight.co.uk if you would like to discuss this.
