RALLY CHERBOURG 2010
Weekend 26 – 27th June 2010
BOOKING FORM & FURTHER DETAILS. This will be a popular event and numbers on the coach and at thr Restaurant will belimited to 50 so early booking is advised.
A warm welcome to Northney berth holders and members of the Starlight and Sadler Owners Association to this enjoyable summer weekend event in France – for £78 per person. Details are provided below but remember that places are limited so please don’t delay returning the completed booking form attached.
Each skipper and crew is responsible for making their own passage plans to arrive and depart Cherbourg marina to attend this event. Overnight berthing will be reserved and a berthing discount may be offered depending on the number of vessels taking part. It is difficult to estimate the cost precisely because of sterling volatility. Please understand that you may be asked for a small additional cost in Euros, or receive back a small amount, depending on the exchange rate prevailing at the time. Currently the tourist rate stands at 1.10 per pound.
Any vessels planning arrival Friday 25th should let the organiser know as an impromptu dinner could be arranged.
All vessels should aim to arrive in Cherbourg by midday on Saturday 26th June very latest.
If preferred, you can also attend this event by ferry and stay at the Chantereyne Hotel. Please contact the organiser for hotel information as a 50% weekend discount may be available..
Saturday 26th June 2010.
A coach departs at 6.20pm (French time) from the Chantereyne marina visitor pontoons to take us through the countryside to Port Dielette, about 30 minutes from Cherbourg. Dinner is at restaurant Le Bouche á Oreille [English translation: By word of mouth], owned and managed by Michel and Patricia Sanson. An aperitif will be taken on the outside terrace if the weather is fine before a four-course dinner. Wine is not included in the cost so that all can decide their own preferences. There is an excellent selection of wines or beer available and Michel Sanson will give good advice if required. Please select your menu choice on the form attached. The coach will return to Chantereyne marina, leaving the restaurant at around 11.00pm.
Sunday 27th June 2010.
A coach departs at 11.30am (French time) from the visitor pontoons for a 30-minute drive to the village of Le Vast, situated on a small river with a picturesque waterfall amongst its Norman stone properties. Philippe Dubegny and his team will welcome us to Cave L’Enchanterie and we will enjoy a typical BBQ grill French style, four-course Sunday lunch. MDL has very kindly sponsored a champagne reception before the luncheon. There will be several different French wines, red and white, served during each course of the luncheon to sample different vintages to decide on any purchases to take home. There will be plenty of time to check out the wine selection available at a special discount to the rally group. The coach will depart around 4.30pm for Cherbourg leaving good time for anyone returning on the Sunday evening ferry to Portsmouth. There will be assistance on hand to deliver any wine directly to your vessel on the pontoons.
